Oil and wick

A candle consists of two parts: Oil (or wax) and a wick. Oil needs the  wick to burn. Oil is mitzvos coming from Chochma and Ratzon all the way down to this world. The wick is the soul, clothed in the animal soul animating the body. Separately they can't accomplish anything but together it's a great mitzvah factory.

After 120 years, soul and mitzvos switch roles. Then the accumulated mitzvos become like the wick bringing down Infinite Light and the elevated neshama is the oil.

So soul and commandments make a candle that actually puts out two kinds of light. The first is the "dark" light, the intense blues and reds closest to the wick, this light is the "signature" of the materiality changing via the soul's mitzvos. Since this light owes its existence to materiality, it's reflected and dark.

The other light is the lighter light framing the flame. This lights originates from the excitement that the performance of a mitzvah brings about and it's a direct light. The gematria of  ואהבתה (and you shall love) is twice  אור  (light), 414. The two lights shine when commandments are done with love, each with its unique twist.
