@ The bunker mezuzah
This event took place during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. A group of Israeli officers was leaving their bunker as the Egyptians were closing in. On his way out, one officer took off the mezuzah on the bunker's door. Some time later, after the war, this officer, as part of a group, was visiting New York and an audience with the Rebbe
was arranged for them. After the Rebbe spoke to the group, each individual got a few minutes with the Rebbe alone. Came this officer's turn and he was ushered into the Rebbe's office. Immediately, the Rebbe looked up at him and said - "Why did you take the mezuza off that door?"
Neither this individual nor anyone else in that group had ever corresponded with the Rebbe nor had any contact with him of any kind.
(As related by Kalman Broudo who had an encounter with that individual recently at the Mitzvah Tank in NYC.)
